Practice makes Progress!

Practice. Practice. Practice. Play. Play. Play. Fun. Fun. Fun.

We've all heard the old age "practice makes perfect." But here at The Little Gym, we believe it's more important that "practice makes progress."

Do you know how children learn best? It's through play and repetition. It seems these days a lot of children's activities are structured and little ones don't get all that much time to just 'play'. Then when they are allowed to play they are constantly being told:

"That's too dangerous!!"

"Get down from there!!"

"No running!!"

Check out this blog we posted a few weeks back which goes into more detail about the importance of movement for your child's development here.

Here at The Little Gym we know just how these things are for your little ones. This is why in our Under 3 classes we allow a period of time for just free play. This gives them time in the gym to go explore and really test what they can do. It's great for confidence building, problem solving, motor planning, social skills and lots of other things.

Now even in our Funny Bugs (3 year olds) classes we allow the children 5 minutes free play to run, climb, jump and test the boundaries of their abilities. This is because this is how they learn more about themselves and the world around them.

Mr TLG himself, Randy McCoy explains very well in this video the importance of movement and repetition for your little ones here.

***NEW PRACTICE TIMES***

Because we are constantly looking at how we can improve our service to our members we will now be offering practice sessions as part of your memberships. This is going to be available to anyone who comes to classes and has a membership with us.

This means you will get additional time, outside of classes to practice skills/spotting techniques with your little ones. The sessions will be supervised by an instructor to practice the fundamental gymnastics they'll be learning in classes each week.

For our Parent Child/Pre-K class children (those not yet at school) we will be running practice sessions through the week and for our School aged children we will be running practice sessions on a Sunday.

At the beginning of each month the dates will be released for these sessions and you can just book on as you would your regular classes. Spaces will be limited so be sure to book on when the dates come out.

It's an opportunity to have more focused time on any particular skills you as parents would like to know how to spot, or for the older children it's a great to time to have more attention working on a particular skill.

With every session spent at The Little Gym, your child is gaining confidence and refining skills, and of course having Serious Fun.

These sessions will also be available for siblings too!! Below are the times available for practice in September:
